JGH ACADEMY was founded in January 2021 by Joseph Hodges (Theatre Producer) and Jay Gardner (Casting Director) to bring an intensive full time performing arts programme to Kent, specialising in outstanding Musical Theatre training.
Pooling together our many years of performing arts experience from across the globe and unique set of contacts and relationships within the professional musical theatre industry, we offer courses that allow our students to gain the knowledge, training and skills to prepare for a career in the performing arts.
We have three courses available:
- One-year Foundation Course
- Two-year Sixth Form Course
- Three-year Level Six Diploma
All of our courses are geared towards performance and technical skills, as well as audition technique, with just under 50 hours of practical training per week in the following disciplines: Singing, Voice, Acting, Musicianship, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Acrobatics, Contemporary and Commercial. The Sixth Form Course offers a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative and Performing Arts, a high-quality equivilent to A Levels, and the Three-year course offers a Level Six Diploma in Performing Arts, both verified by RSL.
Our academic calendar, which runs from September to July, features several performance opportunities:
- A Christmas Concert taking place in December.
- A London Musical Theatre Showcase in February, performed to an invited audience of top agents, casting directors and representatives from professional theatre colleges.
- Performances at 'Move It' Dance Convention.
- Two full-scale musical productions in March and July performed with a live orchestra at the Malthouse Theatre, giving our students the opportunity to undrstand a professional rehearsal process and how to fully develop a character from start to finish.
We're thrilled to be joined by an outstanding faculty of incomparable teachers, who ensure a high standard of training is maintained throughout all disciplines.
